My name is Rachel Powe and I am your Director of Greek Affairs for the 2005-2006 academic school year. In order to help better serve the Northern Illinois University Greek community a Greek News Letter will be put into operation. This newsletter will be utilized to create awareness among the NIU community of Greek proceedings; i.e. events that you have coming up or if you want to give someone, or your organization, recognition for accomplishments. Our objective is for the Greek community to reach the students that are not familiar with the Greek ambiance as well as those they may have a stereotype OF WHAT Greeks are about. Furthermore, want to inform students who know very little, or nothing, about the Greek community to know that they are able to participate in events that the Greek's produce.
This is also another way for the Greek community to promote themselves and the great thing about it is that it is FREE PUBLICITY. This publication will be located in “The Voice”, Northern Illinois University 's online student magazine. In addition to your fraternity and sorority submitting your own articles you can make use of “The Voice” writers and photographers (you will just have to give an adequate amount of notice).
In order to have your articles and or programs featured in “The Voice” submit a hard copy in addition to a copy on disk is required. To submit your information you can pick up forms from the Student Association Office suite 180 Campus Life Building. To turn in your information you may take it to “The Voice” office in the Campus Life Building room 190M, during office hours, or put it in “The Voice” mailbox in the Student Association office suite 180.
